Since I am a bookaholic and writing a novel, I decided to find a way to help other writers promote their books. It might start out as small, but I am hoping it will become huge someday. I hope to get books from authors who would like to have their books reviewed here. Then I will share this on my facebook writing and book groups(I am on many of them, and starting my own), I will also share their site here. Plus, I will share this on my twitter account, which I have at least 250 followers. I decided to start my first review with my favorite author, Janet Evanovich. I admit I do not have experience, but you have to start somewhere, right?
Wicked Charms is the perfect title for this. It is actually the third book in the Charm series. But the beauty of this is, you can read them out of order, and not be confused. It's about a girl named Lizzy Tucker, she lives in Salem Massachusetts. She works in a bakery and makes exceptional cupcakes. A man named Diesel pops into her life, literally. She finds out that he has special abilities, mostly unlocking doors. Turns out she has a special ability, she can sense if a stone is charmed. Diesel also has a pet monkey named Carl. Lizzy accidentally finds a dead body and turns out that it has what Diesel needed to find the third charm. They are looking for 7 charms, which coincides with the 7 sins aka lust, greed, etc. This time they are looking for the greed charm. They need a map, 8 parts to a coin, and a special stone. They follow clues to get them. Diesel also has a Cousin, named Wulf who has other special abilities, and is considered evil. Diesel's mission is to keep the charms away from him, otherwise all Hell will break loose, literally. They also run into a rich man who thinks he's a Demon. And not only that, but there is broom and one of those old 8 balls that tells your fortune, somehow they become alive. They go on adventures to a cave and an old pirate ship. A few more zany characters help them out along the way.
If you love pirates, and treasure hunts, then this is a great story to read. I should warn you, I wouldn't read it in a public place, as you'll be laughing really hard. I highly recommend the Charmed Series by Janet Evanovich.
Ok, think I decided to do something a bit differently. I haven't figured out how to get people to interact here, so I thought I would do a facebook group. I know there are a lot of them out there, but you can never have too many for writing and reading. Mine won't have many rules, so people are welcome to promote their books, blogs, and what not. I don't think they should have to wait for a specific day to promote. Plus, I'd like it to be a chat group about writing and reading. We all can learn from each other. I'll use this for my story and book reviews. I"m looking for authors willing to share their book for free, I will write a review on this page. Then I can share my blog to other writing/reading groups I am on, plus twitter(200+ followers so far). I think if we all help each other out, we can spread the word and keep books alive, so to speak. I am a bookaholic, always have been and always will be. Won't you come and join me?
My facebook group is 2turnthepage. Feel free to comment here if you would like an invite! Thanks! Happy Reading and Writing!
I had a story episode on here, but thanks to a lovely lady for helping me out, I am having to do some re editing. Now I know for future reference not to post stories in my blog without have a beta reader for them. If anyone is willing to be beta readers for me, please contact me here in the comments. And if you need a beta reader feel free to ask here too. I want this to be a community for writers and readers. A lot of facebook groups has too many rules about sharing. I think sharing is caring. So, why don't we all help eachother out. We have one thing in common at least, and that is the love of books. I'd like to start a book chat too. Where we can talk about our favorite books and recommend books to people who need them. So, if you are a writer or a reader, won't you come and join me for a chat? Any questions or suggestions, is much appreciated. Thanks! And happy writing and reading!
Going off topic today, to wish everyone in the USA a happy Independence Day! I hope you all stay safe out there. Remember, not to drink and drive. And please be careful of Fireworks, sparklers, bottle rockets, etc. They can be extremely dangerous and have been known to hurt a lot of people on this day. I will be spending the evening listening to a ballgame on the radio and then they have fireworks afterwords. I live near the ball park. lol But let us also take the time to remember what this day is really for. I would like to say a prayer to the stars for all the soldiers and their families, I hope they stay safe and can come home soon. Thank you for all that you do!
Happy 4th of July everyone!
I found out that writing isn't as easy as it looks. Thanks to health, I needed a career change. I loved English when I was in high school. So, it just made sense to become a free lance writer. I have so many stories in my head. I try to get them out, but thanks to all the technicalities, I am having trouble. It's been many years since I have done writing or gone to school. All those tenses and where to put quotation marks, and commas. Plus formatting for different magazines and books. It's enough to make you want to quit writing. But, my stories want to be told, so I am going to go back to school and study creative writing. You are never to old to get a degree. I am hoping it will help me with my career, as I have no other options, that I can think of. I love telling stories, but just don't know how to get what I see in my head out on paper. It's not as easy as it looks. They say just write. I try that, so far I had to rewrite my beginning three times. And now I'm told that we need to write long blogs to make a business in writing. If I could write 1k works, then I'd be able to finish my novel a lot sooner. And how do you keep count if this site doesn't have a word count? I hate Math. lol And not sure I even have that much to say now. I want to do book reviews, maybe I will do that in my blogs, instead of a separate page. So, I am looking for authors willing to give me a free book, I will write a review and share a link to your book or website. I will also have a place to to let people share the blogs, not sure if I will have that for free. I need to make a living somehow. I have lots of idea for this site, just not sure how to get it going. Mainly another group to share you writings and love of books. So, I hope you will come join me in talking about writing and books. Any suggestions is most appreciated. Thank you for your time.
Just want to take a time out to say Happy Canada Day! And to all those in the USA, have a safe and happy Fourth of July weekend! Remember no drinking and driving! And please be careful with all the fireworks and sparklers. Stay Safe!
Ok, I think I finally have things figured out, so now I just need to get some work done.
I will be adding some book reviews on my book review page. If anyone is an author and willing to provide a free book for a review and link on this site, please contact me here or my email. And if you have any suggestions on how to get people to join in, please contact me as well.
Thanks! Happy Reading and Writing!
I don't know where my third blog went? I saved and published twice and still can't find it. Trying one more time. *sighs*
Think I finally have this figured out, now it's time to have a little fun! hehe
I will be doing mostly tech stuff today. Hoping next week to get some actual blogging done.
